Steep is sweet, steeper can't be beat! The SAM²’s purpose clearly dictates its geometry: The SAM² is designed to be long and slack without being too extreme. The high front ensures an upright seating position, giving you full control downhill even at top speeds.

You’ll never feel like you’re going to go over the handlebars, yet you won’t struggle for grip on the front wheel in open corners. The key is lots of stack. The faster and steeper it gets, the more comfortable the SAM² feels.

The “mullet” concept of the SAM² also enhances the downhill experience: 29” wheels in the front provide great roll-over characteristics, while 27.5” wheels in the rear offer agile handling – the best of both dimensions combined in the SAM².

DOWN YOUR WAY

Chips and Cups for Change: Those who want to customise the SAM² to their specific needs are in for a treat. Thanks to Headset Cups and FLIP CHIPs at the chainstays, various geometry combinations are available – and it’s easy to adjust.

With the Headset Cups, you can vary the head angle between 63.5° and 64.5°: the flatter the angle, the more stable; the steeper the angle, the more agile – a simple formula. This allows you to tailor the head angle to your riding style and terrain. What’s particularly great is that this works seamlessly with the fully integrated cables, without hours of tinkering.

FEELING ROWDY? ... WE GOT YOU

With the FLIP CHIP at the chainstays, you can choose between 441 mm or 448 mm chainstay lengths to tune the balance of the SAM². Rowdy or stable – you decide! Both settings work with the same number of chain links.

We recommend the shorter setting of 441 mm for frame sizes S and M, and the longer chainstays of 448 mm for sizes L and XL, but ultimately, it’s your choice. Experimenting is expressly encouraged! The difference, especially in handling corners, is enormous.

EXTRA TUNE FOR DOWNHILL

The heart of the FOCUS SAM² is its suspension system: It provides substantial support and feedback from the ground without becoming too stiff or losing traction. The kinematics are fully tuned to a coil shock, with a lot of passion poured into the firm internal tuning of the suspension.

As a result, the SAM² offers plenty of reserves and ensures a bottomless ride at all times. The best part: It only uses its travel when it’s truly needed. The bike handles big road gaps and nasty rock gardens at high speed just as well as steep, wet root sections on an enduro race track.

NO COMPROMISES WHEN IT COMES TO GRAVITY

The SAM² is specced from front to back with an uncompromising setup for gravity use. This starts with the DH tyres and doesn’t end with the powerful brakes. The used soft 2.5” tyres not only provide plenty of grip but also offer excellent puncture protection, while the 220 mm brake discs reliably clamp down even on the longest descents, bringing the SAM² to a halt in record time.

In combination, the tyres and the active rear during braking always generate enough traction to translate braking power into deceleration. Added to this is the great maneuverability space at the rear, thanks to the dropper post with plenty of travel. The short seat tube provides enough space for long dropper posts despite the charging port: depending on the size, between 150 mm and 210 mm.

PURITY IN DESIGN

The 38 mm suspension fork, coil shock, and 40 mm stem are just as much part of the purpose-oriented spec as the deliberate choice of an all-aluminum package: frame, wheels, and handlebar can endure hits without issue, ensuring you can always continue riding, even when things get rough.

Uncompromising also means leaving out what’s unnecessary or disturbing: a display was deliberately omitted, and cables were minimized thanks to a wireless remote. The remaining cables for the seat post and brake are also routed rattle-free. Thanks to extensive chainstay protection, the SAM² is absolutely quiet on the trail.

Thanks to the legendary Bosch power and reliability, the FOCUS SAM² always calls for one more trail.

Now with a massive 100NM of power, the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5, can push noticeably longer and stronger, particularly on steep ramps, all while being significantly quieter. (with no annoying motor rattling disturbing your descent)

The FOCUS SAM², comes with the new lighter 600 Wh battery or can easily be upgraded later to the larger 800Wh.

Form meets function: The new C.I.S. 2.0 stem ensures not only a sleek, tidy cockpit but also retains the full adjustability of a conventional setup, as the cables and lines no longer run through the stem.

THE DETAILS MATTER

The SAM² is meticulously designed down to the smallest detail: The speed sensor is invisibly integrated into the wheel.

The particularly thick, bolted chainstay protector ensures the bike is quieter than ever. The motor cover is exceptionally robust.
